73. Physics Contest – KOOF in Czestochowa
On Sunday, February 18, this year's competition of the experimental part of the second stage of the 73rd edition of the Physics Contest was held at the Faculty of Science & Technology of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa. 7 high school students qualified to the second stage of the 73. Physics Contest in the Częstochowa region. The competition of the theoretical part took place on 14 January. At that time, 7 people representing the Jan III Sobieski High School in Nysa, the Tadeusz Kościuszko High School in Starachowice, and the Juliusz Słowacki High School in Kielce took part in the theoretical tasks. 3 students from the Jan III Sobieski High School in Nysa, the Tadeusz Kościuszko High School in Starachowice, and the Juliusz Słowacki High School in Kielce qualified to the experimental part of the second stage of the Contest.
The participants were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology, prof. Marcin Sosnowski, the Chairman of the District Committee of the Physics Contest in Częstochowa, prof. Arkadiusz Mandowski, and dr Małgorzata Hyla, Deputy Chairman of the KOOF in Częstochowa. The participants of the experimental part received commemorative diplomas and prizes funded by the Faculty of Science & Technology of JDU in Czestochowa, as well as by the Częstochowa Branch of the Polish Physical Society.
The Physics Contest, organised by the Polish Physical Society for the 73rd time, is one of the oldest subject competitions for high school students. In the first stage, students solve theoretical and experimental tasks at home and send the solutions to the district committee, which qualifies the participants for the next stage. District competitions (second stage of the competition) take place in January (theoretical part) and February (experimental part). The District Committee of the Physics Contest in Częstochowa has been cooperating with the Faculty of Science & Technology of JDU in Czestochowa and the Institute of Physics of the Częstochowa University of Technology for many years. With the consent and support of successive Rectors and Deans, the second stage of the OF is organised in the halls of the Faculty of Science & Technology of JDU in Czestochowa.
This year, prof. dr hab. A. Mandowski, dr hab. M. Hyla, dr inż. K. Szufa, dr inż. R. Majgier and mgr R. Kieszkowski, academics of the Institute of Physics of JDU participated in the preparation of the competition in the Częstochowa district.
