Winners announced for "English in medicine" competition

On March 25, at Wladyslaw Bieganski Collegium Medicum of JDU in Czestochowa, a ceremonial Gala was held to announce the results and award the first edition of the "English in Medicine" National Competition for Secondary School Students, which was led by Vice-Dean dr Magdalena Myga-Nowak, prof. UJD. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of CM, dr hab. n. med., dr n. hum. Sławomir Letkiewicz, prof. UJD and Małgorzata Witek - head of A. Mickiewicz High School in Częstochowa. 

The competition was held in three stages. The first stage took place on 09.01.2024 in the home schools. It was attended by 120 students. Three participants with the highest number of points from each school qualified for the second stage. This stage took place on 15.02.2024 at Adam Mickiewicz High School in Częstochowa. The third stage of the competition took place on 14.03.2024 at the Collegium Medicum of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa. The final tasks were solved by 12 participants. The content of the competition was supervised by:

- mgr Dominika Tomecka – English teacher at Adam Mickiewicz High School in Częstochowa

- mgr Sylwia Ciężkowska – biology teacher at Adam Mickiewicz High School in Częstochowa

- dr Adam Makówka – chemistry teacher at Adam Mickiewicz High School in Częstochowa

- dr Magdalena Szatkowska– research and teaching assistant professor at CM, Department of Medical Sciences 

- mgr Justyna Karoń - teaching assistant, Faculty of Humanities, Institute of Linguistics 

The winners of the competition were: 

Kamil Będkowski – 1st place from the No 7 Nicolaus Copernicus High School in Częstochowa,

Szymon Rajdok – 2nd place from No 1 A. Mickiewicz Secondary School in Lubliniec,

Wojciech Deneko – 3rd place from No 1 A. Mickiewicz Secondary School in Lubliniec.

During the Gala, the winners were presented with prizes and vouchers. The participants had the opportunity to listen to a lecture entitled "IMMUNOLOGY. The immune system in questions and answers", delivered by Dorota Piechowiak, medical doctor. In addition, the students of the meeting had the opportunity to visit the Monoprofile Medical Simulation Centre, guided by mgr Jakub Błaszczyk i mgr inż. Łukasz Lasek.
