Representatives of JDU participated in First Internationalisation Congress - Higher Education 

The JDU delegation: prof. Janusz Kapuśniak, Vice-Rector for Research & International Relations,  prof. Marcin Sosnowski, Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology, prof. Jakub Jakubowski, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Art, mgr Bartłomiej Kowalik, Senior Specialist for Foreign Relations, participated in the First Internationalisation Congress. The event took place on May 13-14 at the Medical University of Gdańsk which was a co-organiser of the conference alongside the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and the IROs Forum (International Relations Offices Forum). The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

The inaugural lecture was given by dr Laura E. Rumbley – Head of Development, Knowledge and Research at the European Association for International Education (EAIE). Among the topics discussed on the first day were international education programs, recruitment of foreign students, mobility trends in the world, joint/double diplomas, internationalisation of doctoral schools and the country's strategy in attracting foreign students. The participants also debated on the recommendations for Poland, which, under the auspices of NAWA, has been working on a national strategy for the internationalisation of science and higher education since January this year. Many experts from all over Europe accepted the invitation to participate in the discussion, including representatives of agencies responsible for the development of science and higher education from Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany and Slovakia, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the representatives of higher education institutions.

On the second day, the discussion focused on strategic partnerships, prospects for the development of international research and education programs, and support for the foreign part of the university community. During the Congress, our presece was also marked. Bartłomiej Kowalik, being invited to participate in the Turbopresentation session, presented elements of the internationalisation strategy of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa. The meeting was an ideal opportunity for networking and exchanging good practices with the broad academic community.
