JDU EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH SOUTH KOREA

Prof. Michał Piasecki (Institute of Physics) and mgr Bartłomiej Kowalik (Department for Research & International Relations) visited the partner university Myongji University in order to implement the Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA) and Staff Mobility for Training (STT) activities within the Erasmus+ programme.

Myongji University (founded in 1948) is a university with a wide educational profile, highly ranked in Korean rankings. The university has two campuses in Seoul and Yongin, which offer undergraduate and graduate study programmes (11 colleges and 9 graduate schools), including English Language and Literature, History, Art History, Philosophy, Economics, Political Science and Diplomacy, Child Development and Education, Law, Information and Communication Engineering, Psychotherapy, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, Physical Education, and education at the level of third-cycle studies. Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa is the only partner university of Myongji University in Poland. During the talks, both sides emphasized the visible and dynamically developing economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between Poland and Korea in recent years, which intensifies the problem related to the shortage of competent lawyers and economists familiar with the legislation of both countries, and it is this external factor that can also be an important impulse for establishing cooperation between the relevant faculties of both universities. Korea's higher education and science have for many years been very focused on the practical use of research results and extensive cooperation with modern industry (targeted research funds, technology sales), so Myongji University, which is active in this field, can be an excellent place for our students and researchers to expand these competences. On the other hand, Korea as a technologically advanced society is not free from modern civilization problems, and that is why Myongji University is open to cooperation in education and development of social competences (education, physical culture, psychology) or production of healthy food.

JDU representatives also talked about academic exchange between universities and the preparation of project applications carried out jointly by Polish-Korean research consortia.
