FACULTY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SAYS GOODBYE TO ITS GRADUATES

For the first time in the history of the Faculty of Science and Technology of JDU, a diploma ceremony was held for graduates who completed their education in the 2023/2024 academic year (20 September 2024).

The graduates gathered in Aula Magna were congratulated by the Rector of JDU, Prof. Janusz Kapuśniak, who recalled his student times spent at the Higher Pedagogical School in Czestochowa (now Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa), of which he is a graduate.

- We are connected by the same Faculty – I studied at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the Higher School of Economics – which today is called the Faculty of Science and Technology. There are certainly also people who, like me, studied chemistry – Prof. Janusz Kapuśniak addressed the graduates. – However, we also have a lot to do. It is a completely different university than years ago, when I was educated there. The university has been significantly modernised, there has been more scientific equipment, well-equipped laboratories... Hence, I wish you that when receiving your bachelor's, master's or engineer's diplomas, you remember that you are also opening the door to a career – your dream job, or maybe a doctoral school? Congratulations to everyone on graduating from our University!

The Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Renata Barczyńska-Felusiak, also joined the congratulations.

- I hope that the skills acquired during your studies at our Faculty will allow you to meet all the challenges that will face you – congratulated the graduates. – I wish you courage and the fulfillment of your dreams, as well as maintaining further contacts with our Faculty and University.

In the academic year that is coming to an end, 68 people have graduated from the Faculty of Science and Technology so far. They were graduates of such faculties as: chemistry, physics, computer science, safety engineering, medical engineering, human nutrition and dietetics. The first-cycle studies (bachelor's or engineer's) were completed by 159 graduates of such faculties as: biotechnology, chemistry, dietetics, physics, computer science, innovative technologies and modern materials, multimedia engineering, forensics and safety systems, and mathematics. The largest number of diplomas were awarded to graduates of the field of forensic science and safety systems, which enjoys unflagging popularity at the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The ceremony was also attended by the authorities of the Faculty, Vice-Rectors: Prof. Marcin Sosnowski (for Cooperation and Internationalisation), and Prof. Bogusław Przywora (for Research), supervisors and reviewers of theses, relatives and friends of the graduates, as well as members of the academic community and representatives of the socio-economic environment. The farewell to the graduates was graced by a piano concert performed by Prof. Maciej Zagórski, and a performance by the KLA-SCH Vocal Quartet of the Department of Music of JDU under the direction of Prof. Przemysław Jeziorowski. In addition to the presentation of diplomas, the ceremony did not lack the obligatory ritual of moving the tassel. It symbolises the transition from the student state to the graduate state. The celebration ended with a joyful accent - the graduates tossing their birettas.
