UNIVERSITY SENATE INAUGURATES SESSION – RECTOR HANDS OVER NOMINATIONS
The first session of the Senate of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa (in the 2024-2028 term), which took place on September 25, 2024, was extremely solemn.
"The Senate is the most important collegial body of the University," emphasized the Rector of Jan Dlugosz University, Prof. Janusz Kapuśniak, listing the competences of the Senate.
Then, the acts of appointment were handed to the members of the Senate. Each of them also received the Statute of JDU. The Rector, Prof. Janusz Kapuśniak, was assisted by the Chairman of the University Electoral Committee, Prof. Jerzy Zdański. The people who have an advisory voice during the Senate sessions were also presented. This group includes:

The Rector congratulated everyone and wished them success in performing their honourable functions. After all, the members of the distinguished Senate participate in making the most important decisions concerning the functioning and development of the University. They set the directions of its development, influence the development of the educational offer and, to a large extent, many matters related to the everyday life of the University.
In order to keep up with the tradition, during the first session of the Senate of the new term, a ceremony was held to unveil the portrait of Prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska, who served two rector terms in 2016-2020 and 2020-2024.
Prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska thanked the participants, wishing the University community further successes.

Due to the commenced, thorough renovation of the Senate Hall, the session took place in the Auditorium Maximum auditorium (in the University building at Waszyngtona 4/8). After the completion of the modernisation, the ceremonially unveiled portrait will eventually go to the rectors' gallery and will be hung in chronological order next to the predecessor of Prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska – prof. Zygmunt Bąk. Its author - mgr Artur Wawrzkiewicz- is an assistant at the Department of Painting at JDU.
The ceremonial session of the Senate was accompanied by a performance by the KLA-SCH Vocal Quartet of the Department of Music of JDU under the direction of Professor Przemysław Jeziorowski. The audience was presented with works by Stanisław Moniuszko and Jacek Glenc. Then the working part of the meeting of the JDU Senate took place, during which the first decisions affecting the life of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa were made.
