UNIVERSITY AND RADIO KATOWICE ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH

The agreement on cooperation between Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa and the Regional Broadcasting Station in Katowice "Radio Katowice" has been officially concluded! The document was signed by: the Rector, prof. Janusz Kapuśniak (on behalf of the University) and the Editor-in-Chief Ewelina Kosałka-Passia (representing the Radio Station).

- During the talks with the employees of the Radio, we managed to find many common grounds on which we can build and develop cooperation - explains the Rector, prof. Janusz Kapuśniak. - Among them is certainly didactics - providing students of journalism, multimedia engineering or photography with internships and, probably most importantly, contacts with experienced journalists, photojournalists or sound engineers. We also have a lot of other advantages to offer, e.g. providing contact to experts in many fields of science, sports or art. Certainly, the listeners of the Radio and the recipients of other media, which are prepared by the journalists of the Station, will benefit from our cooperation.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Radio also spoke in a similar tone.

- By signing the agreement, we formalised the cooperation that has existed for many years – explains Ewelina Kosałka-Passia. – We hope that we will be able to deepen it by gaining students who will cooperate with us as interns and apprentices, both in the Częstochowa branch and in the Katowice headquarters. In the future, we want the most talented to become employees of our Station. It should be remembered that modern radio is not only broadcasters in front of microphones in the studio, but also people involved in photography, sound engineers, filmmakers... We are constantly developing. That is why we are also available in social media and thanks to them we reach new listeners, viewers and readers with information.

The meeting was attended by: Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Internationalisation, prof. Marcin Sosnowski, Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities dr Agnieszka Pobratyn, mgr Jakub Dziewit from the Faculty of Art, dr Marcin Zastawnik from the Faculty of Science and Technology, and dr Marek Makowski, a spokesperson for JDU. Among the representatives of Radio Katowice were: Krzysztof Słabikowski and Aneta Ochman.

The agreement provides for the organisation of internships for students of the University in the Radio, primarily in the areas of: journalism, multimedia engineering, photography, Polish studies and others (the above-mentioned fields of study are run by the University). The agreement provides for the broadcasts devoted to events carried out by the University, such as: academic holidays, scientific conferences, sports and cultural events, events addressed to the general public or expert statements. It was also declared that projects could be carried out, where JDU students could be involved, such as: marketing and promotional campaigns of the Radio; development of promotional materials for the Radio; conducting marketing research; preparing diploma theses related to the history and activities of the Radio, whose past is nearly a hundred years old. The signing of the agreement took place on December 13, 2024 in the Rector’s office.
