UNIVERSITY GLOBAL SUCCESS 

Excellent news has come to the University from Canada. During the 9. International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCan, Toronto, August 2024) Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum of JDU dr hab. n. med., dr n. hum. Sławomir Letkiewicz was awarded the "Canadian Special Award of Excellence". The award was granted to a team which, apart from the Professor, also included: prof. dr hab. n. med. Ryszard Międzybrodzki and prof. dr hab. n.med. Andrzej Górski. The Polish scientists were honoured for developing a patent - "Phage preparation for rectal use" - the distinction was awarded for their participation in the work resulting in the creation of a medicinal preparation for use in the treatment of multiantibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.

It should be emphasized that this is yet another distinction on the scientist's account, which was awarded as a result of appreciation and gratitude for the implementation of an invention important for the world of science. Let us remind you that earlier the Professor was awarded a gold medal (June 2023 during the invention fair associated with the conference in Częstochowa) and a silver medal for the invention during the Kaohsiung International Invention and Design Expo held in Taiwan (November-December 2023). It is worth adding that bacteriophage therapy is the only discipline of medicine where Poland ranks first in the world.
