LANGUAGE WORKSHOPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

On March 13, the Faculty of Humanities was visited by a group of 32 third-grade students of the Woodworking and Environmental Protection School Complex from Radomsko together with their teachers: Katarzyna Krok, Joanna Bogacz and Iwona Krakowiecka. It is a school with rich traditions, which is popular among young people. Jan Dlugosz University has been cooperating with this educational institution for many years. This time, our guests participated in language workshops in English and German. At the Faculty of Humanities, they were welcomed by the Dean, prof. Przemysław Sznurkowski and the Head of the Institute of Linguistics, prof. Elżbieta Pawlikowska-Asendrych. The Dean presented the Faculty's offer of studies to the young people, as well as the opportunities offered by the cooperation of various universities within the COLOURS European University Alliance. Prof. Elżbieta Pawlikowska-Asendrych encouraged our guests to take up philological studies and take advantage of the numerous language workshops conducted at the Faculty.

As part of the later workshops, students trained their skills in English and German classes. Agnieszka Pyziak, M.A., prepared a workshop "Are you ready to go?" related to various forms of safe travel. During exercises and discussions, students consolidated their vocabulary and talked about their own experiences regarding travel. Łukasz Musik, M.A., conducted a class entitled "A little bit about tourism: ethical tourism as an antidote to mass tourism", during which young people exchanged views on modern trends in tourism. German classes gave the opportunity to consolidate – in connection with the upcoming Earth Day – vocabulary related to environmental protection and environmental disasters ("Die Umwelt und der Umweltschutz").

Our guests worked actively and with great commitment during the workshops, demonstrating a good knowledge of foreign languages.
