University mission

Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa is a public academic institution operating in the Republic of Poland. The mission of the University is scientific activity, artistic and didactic creation, carried out by conducting scientific research, sharing and disseminating knowledge, academic teaching of students, doctoral students and listeners, conducting activities popularizing knowledge, cooperation with national and foreign scientific centres. The University operates in accordance with universal ethical principles and rules of conduct established in the tradition of European universities. It strives to shape attitudes in conditions conducive to the upbringing of academic youth and the self-fulfilment of the individual. It cares about respecting academic values and developing them in an atmosphere of freedom and tolerance. The University pursues a consistent policy of improving the quality of education. 

The University carries out its mission with awareness of the historical, social, economic and cultural significance of Częstochowa and the region. As a university with traditions related to pedagogical education, the University provides forms of practical education, at the same time dynamically developing university faculties and creating an increasingly rich and comprehensive didactic offer. Already today, the University implements the model of a modern academic unit, taking into account various fields of research and study, responding to the needs and expectations of the socio-economic environment and taking up the challenges facing modern higher education. The University's mission includes the vision of a multi-profile, autonomous university research and teaching unit, with a significant scientific and didactic position in Poland and Europe, developing in accordance with the aspirations of the city, region and country, in cooperation with domestic and foreign partner institutions. 

The University carries out its mission by referring to the person and ideals of its Patron and to the universal ethical values symbolised by his activities. The figure of Jan Długosz, an outstanding chronicler, historian, diplomat and educator, obliges us to fulfill the mission of the University in a sense of constant and persistent service to the society.
