Quality of education at the University

In 2008, the University Education Quality Assurance System (PL: USZJK) was established at Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa. The structure and tasks of the internal system were determined by the Rector's orders. From the very beginning, the aim of the USZJK has been to care for the quality of education, by developing methods and tools to monitor the quality of education at JDU and to include representatives of the entire academic community in the discussion on quality.

The USZJK was modified in 2012 in connection with the amendment to the Law on Higher Education, and above all with the introduction of the National Qualifications Framework. At that time, faculty and faculty committees were appointed, working since February 2012 on the modernization of educational programmes, including, above all, on the development of learning outcomes for all fields of study conducted at the University.  At that time, the USZJK consisted of:

University Team for Education Quality Assurance (PL: UZZJK),
University Team for Education Quality Assessment (PL: UZOJK),
Faculty Teams for Ensuring the Quality of Education (PL: WZZJK),
Faculty Teams for the Evaluation of the Quality of Education (PL: WZOJK),
Major Teams for the Quality of Education for individual fields of study (PL: ZKJK),
Interdepartmental Units for the Quality of Education (PL: ZJMJK).

The structure has evolved. In the following years, the Council for the Quality of Education (PL: RJK) was established from the UZZJK and UZOJK together with the University Team for Surveys and Evaluation.

On June 1, 2018, the University was transformed. In 2019, work was undertaken to change the structure of the University and to evaluate the existing education quality system. The discussions on the USZJK took into account all provisions of the Law on Higher Education and Science, the "Constitution for Science" and the Polish Qualifications Framework. The activities aimed at simplifying certain procedures and proposing tools to respond to social and cultural changes.

Since the 2019/2020 academic year, there have been six faculties at the University, which are responsible for teaching, while institutes and departments focus on research activities. As a result of structural changes, the teams for the quality of education and the persons responsible for monitoring the quality of education have been given new tasks, which are also analysed by successive evaluation teams of the Polish Accreditation Committee. The USZJK consists of the following currently appointed for the term of office:

Council for the Quality of Education (PL: RJK),
Field of Study Teams for the Quality of Education,
Teams for the Quality of Education (in the Foreign Language Learning Centre and in the Physical Education and Sport Centre).

The Doctoral School was also involved in the activities of the USZJK.

The state of epidemic announced on March 12, 2020 posed new challenges to the USZJK, including the evaluation of almost universal teaching using distance learning methods and techniques. It was a big change in the concept of education of the University. At that time, the selection of the most effective tools for conducting classes and verifying learning outcomes, as well as tools for evaluating the quality of education, was discussed. The experience from the 2019/2020 summer semester was used in preparations for the new academic year. They also served as a set of good practices in the organisation of the education process using distance learning methods and techniques. In October 2020, a new structure of the USZJK was introduced.

Monitoring of procedures related to the quality of education and the education process in individual fields of study is carried out on a continuous basis with the involvement of the entire academic community, lecturers and students.

Student representatives not only give their opinions on study programmes, but also take part in the work of the KZJK. All students can express their opinions in surveys, on didactic classes, internships, educational conditions, quality of education, work of the dean's office.
