In 2013, dr Dorota Ortenburger from the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology was awarded the European Federation of IASP Chapters (EFIC)® scholarship for the European Federation of IASP® Chapters, which brings together scientists in the field of medicine, psychology, physiotherapy and health-related sciences. She received a grant in an international competition organised under the European programme "Europe against Pain" (EAP), which resulted in participation in the international EFIC Pain Schools in Klagenfurt (Austria).

This is the second grant obtained in the international competition. She received her first research project in the IASP competition, which resulted in the presentation of the results of her research work entitled: "Personality predictors in depression at chronic musculoskeletal pain patients" during the 12th World Congress on Pain (2008, Glasgow, Scotland, UK).

On 24 June 2013, Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa was appointed as a member of the Technical Committee No. 256 for Terminology, Other Language Resources and Content Management at the Polish Committee for Standardisation. The representative on behalf of the University is prof. Piotr Mamet from the Institute of Foreign Philology.

OTHERS

The winner of the 7th edition of the competition for scholarships of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for young outstanding scientists, conducting high-quality research and enjoying impressive scientific achievements, is an assistant at the Institute of Music, dr Ewa Jabłczyńska. In the competition for scholarships for young outstanding scientists, 811 applications were submitted, and 171 scientists from research centres from all over Poland were awarded.

The Foundation for Polish Science has extended the funding of the project of dr Katarzyna Bandurska (Institute of Chemistry, Environmental Protection and Biotechnology) entitled: Production of HIV-1 Inhibitor Griffithsin Rusing Medicinal Plants implemented under the HOMING PLUS programme in the period from 1 October 2010 to 31 December 2012.

In July, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), one of the world's largest institutions dealing with Scientometry research, published a ranking of the quality of teaching, practicing science and self-presentation of almost all universities (20745 universities) in the world. In the "Excellence" ranking prepared on the basis of the number of articles belonging to the group of 10% most frequently cited in its field, JDU was on the 2275th position, i.e. in the group of universities representing at least an average level of scientific research.
