Microgrants
For the purposes of the "Programme for the development of scientific research, transfer of innovation, internationalisation and education at Jan Dlugosz University" implemented within the Programme of the Minister of Science and Higher Education under the name Regional Excellence Initiative, on 12 November 2024 Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa begins recruitment in the form of a competition for obtaining a microgrant under Task Z3 Microgrants.
Competition objective:
The aim of the competition is to support researchers in the implementation of scientific research in the disciplines of chemical sciences and/or environmental engineering, mining and energy by awarding microgrant funding. These funds are aimed at enabling the implementation of innovative research projects that can be the foundation for the development of science in the above-mentioned disciplines, the development of scientific careers and the strengthening of cooperation with industry and the public sector.
Target group:
The competition is addressed to staff employed at Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa in research and research and teaching positions, for whom JDU is the primary place of work and conduct scientific activity in the disciplines of chemical sciences and/or environmental engineering, mining and energy and do not hold a doctoral degree or hold a doctoral degree from which no more than 7 years have passed, as well as to employees starting or intensifying research work in the disciplines of chemical sciences and/or environmental engineering, mining and energy.
Financing conditions:
• The maximum budget of the microgrant is PLN 50,000.00
• The maximum duration of the project: 12 months
• Funds may be used for:
- conducting scientific research (preliminary, pilot, experimental or laboratory research) - obligatory;
- preparation of scientific publications;
- research, consultation and conference trips.
Deadline for submitting applications:
Applications (the form below) should be submitted by December 9, 2024 in paper form to the project office (Armii Krajowej 13/15, room A-8) and sent in two separate files (Information part – in PDF format), Descriptive part (in PDF format and in editable format) to the following address: m.sosnowski(at)ujd.edu.pl
Evaluation process:
Applications will be evaluated on the merits by the Competition Committee on the basis of the following criteria:
• innovation and originality of the research topic;
• compliance of the scope of the proposed microgrant with the strategic priorities of the project and research areas;
• relevance of the scope of research work;
• experience of the applicant in the field of the submitted research topic;
• planned effects of the research and their significance for science and its applications.
Results announcement:
The list of microgrants that have received funding will be published on this website on January 9, 2025

Results of the call for proposals for a microgrant under Task Z3 Microgrants (competition announced on November 4, 2024)
For the first call for applications for a microgrant under Task Z3 Microgrants in the competition announced on November 4, 2024, 13 applications were submitted for a total amount of PLN 545,733.57. The allocation of funds for the first call for proposals was PLN 250,000. The competition committee, based on the criteria defined in the Regulations of Task Z3 Microgrants implemented under the "Programme for the development of scientific research, transfer of innovation, internationalisation and education at Jan Dlugosz University" financed under the "Regional Excellence Initiative" programme, evaluated the applications, awarding each of them a score in each of the five criteria. This scoring allowed for the development of a ranking list of all applications according to the sum of points scored.

Number of points obtained: 20.63.
3. Application number: RID_Z3_2024_9
Title: Assessment of the sorption capacity of rock-coal materials based on rock and biochar from sawdust in the context of the removal of nutrients and heavy metals from surface waters and pre-treated municipal sewage
Applicant: dr Kończyk Joanna, prof. UJD
Amount: 50 000 zł
Number of points obtained: 20.5
Congratulations to the applicants!
Please read the contract template (Appendix 3 - contract template) and provide the Project Office with data to supplement the contract by 20 January 2025.
At the same time, we would like to inform that the next three applications from the ranking list received the same number of points of 20.4, and the requested amount of each of them was PLN 50,000. Therefore, they could not obtain funding due to exceeding the allocation of funds for the current call of PLN 250,000. The amount of PLN 100,000 not used in the current call will contribute to the allocation of funds in the next call for microgrants.
Each applicant will be informed about the number of points obtained in an individual e-mail.
Applicants whose applications have not received funding are encouraged to apply in the next call, which will be announced in spring 2025.
