JDU Rector, prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska, congratulated the Rector-elect on behalf of the university community.
- It is a great honour for me – explains prof. Janusz Kapuśniak. – I would like to emphasize that the honourable title awarded to me is a success of the entire University. I mean all the staff of Jan Dlugosz University who have been developing and deepening their cooperation with the University of Lutsk for 10 years. Thanks to this, we have completed many projects: didactic and scientific. A large group of young Ukrainians benefited from studying at our University, and the University of Lutsk joined the COLOURS Alliance of European Universities.
- Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa is the most important partner of our University in Poland, although we also cooperate, among others, with the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the Pomeranian University in Słupsk – emphasized prof. Anatoli Tsos. – We want to expand this cooperation with new activities. We owe a lot to the University of Częstochowa and its staff. Thanks to grants and joint projects, it is possible to obtain funds for the functioning and development of the University in the difficult reality of war.
Let us remind you that earlier the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Ukrainian University was awarded to the Rector of Jan Dlugosz University, prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska and dr. hab. n. med., dr. n. hum. Sławomir Letkiewicz, prof. UJD (Dean of the Wladyslaw Bieganski Collegium Medicum).
During the ceremony, prof. Tsos told the members of the Senate of JDU about the difficult situation of Ukrainian science. He spoke about the support that the community of the Lutsk university brings almost every day to soldiers fighting on the front against Russian aggression by participating in numerous fundraisers for the purchase of equipment for the Ukrainian army. The learning conditions, although difficult, did not cause the closure of the University. Students and staff (the University educates 10,000 students and employs 800 staff) stop working if necessary and take shelter... Despite this, the University is developing. Scientific research and education are carried out, new fields of study are created, such as: national security, logistics, and work is also underway to launch the field of dentistry.
