Voivodeship Board will co-finance University's projects - funding for nearly PLN 13.5 million

On August 28, 2024, by Resolution No. 966/24/VII/2024 the Management Board of the Silesian Voivodeship selected 2 projects of our University for funding within 01.01 B+R - research organisations from the European Funds for Silesia 2021-2027 programme. The projects "Centre for Research on Human Metabolism and Prevention of Metabolic Diseases (CBMCziPChM)" and "Construction of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence Applications in Diagnostic Imaging" with a total amount of funding of nearly PLN 13.5 million will be implemented at the Faculty of Science and Technology. As a result, a Centre with innovative scientific and research equipment, such as a dynamic model simulating the behaviour of the microbiota in the human gastrointestinal tract, and a Laboratory with a computed tomography laboratory will be created. The need to implement projects is rooted in the needs of the entire Silesian Voivodeship, whose development is focused on scientific research in the field of medical sciences and health sciences.

Thanks to the expansion of the University's infrastructure, the current R&D and implementation activities of its staff in the field of innovative research on metabolism will be intensified. On the other hand, enriching the research infrastructure with a laboratory for research on medical imaging techniques will introduce a new specialisation to the region and will allow for the generation of modern technological solutions in the use of AI in medicine.

These projects will enable the University to actively participate in stimulating the development of the economy by creating knowledge ready for commercialisation and using the mechanism of knowledge transfer in research and development cooperation with the business sphere. We would like to thank the Management Board of the Silesian Voivodeship for enabling the University to contribute to building innovation of the entire economy.
