ACADEMIC SOLIDARITY IN THE WAKE OF NATURAL DISASTER
Students and staff affected by the flood are reminded of the possibility of taking advantage of various forms of assistance offered by Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa:
• Students who have temporarily found themselves in a difficult life situation as a result of the flood can apply for an allowance (according to the regulations of benefits, it can be received maximum twice in an academic year).
• Students who, due to the effects of the flood, will have difficulties in starting their studies on October 1 this year or will not be able to take exams during the current retake session, may take a long-term (dean's) or short-term leave, as well as the possibility of justifying their absence from the exam conducted during the current retake session.
• All people (affected by the disaster) who have been allocated places in the dormitory and the date of accommodation is scheduled for the end of September, can check in immediately.
• Employees may submit an application for financial (random) assistance under the Company Social Benefits Fund (applications are available on the website of the Human Resources Department)

For all students, doctoral students and staff of JDU affected by the flood the University Support Centre offers:
• Assistance in the study process
Students and doctoral students who, due to the effects of the flood, will need help in the education process, can take advantage of adjustments such as the possibility of increased absence from classes along with the possibility of individual crediting of arrears. • Psychological help
The University Support Centre also includes the Psychological Support Team, which is at the disposal of students, doctoral students and staff of Jan Dlugosz University in need of psychological advice and support. Assistance is provided free of charge by appointment. The interview with the psychologist can be conducted in both Polish and English. In addition, the authorities of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa encourage you to join the collection for flood victims organied by the Department of Education of the Częstochowa City Hall. Currently, the most needed products are: long shelf life food products, drinking water, hygiene products, blankets, sleeping bags, shovels, rubber boots. In-kind donations for flood victims can be made at the H. Sienkiewicz IV High School at Al. NMP 56.

The collection point for necessary articles for flood victims operates from Monday to Friday, from 8.00 am. to 3.00 pm.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
in the face of the dramatic events that have affected the inhabitants of south-western Poland, we need to unite our forces and show our support. The flood poses a serious threat to the health and life of residents, encroaches on their homes, destroys infrastructure and paralyzes daily functioning. Many people have already been evacuated, and services are on the ground that are constantly working to ensure safety. In the face of such a difficult situation, every gesture of solidarity is of great importance. We encourage you to support aid campaigns by participating in fundraisers that directly support the victims.
The Siepomaga Foundation on the website: https://www.siepomaga.pl/powodzie has launched a nationwide fundraiser for people who suffered as a result of the flood. They monitor the needs of victims from all over Poland on an ongoing basis in order to reach with help where it is most needed. 100% of the collected funds will be transferred to support flood victims.
Caritas Poland has created a financial fundraiser. Payments can be made on the caritas.pl website, via BLIK to the number 668 070 000 under FLOOD or by traditional transfer to the account 77 1160 2202 0000 0000 3436 4384 with the note FLOOD. In-kind assistance is also needed (dehumidifiers, drinking water, power generators, shovels, wheelbarrows, rubber boots, cloths, hygiene products, food with a long expiry date). In the face of the difficult situation that affected the flood victims, the Minister of Science, Dariusz Wieczorek, sent an official letter to all universities, in which he appeals for support for people affected by the disaster. The content of the letter is published below (PL):
