31. INAUGURATION OF UTA ACADEMIC YEAR
On October 10, the official inauguration of the 2024/2025 academic year took place at the University of the Third Age of Jan Dlugosz University, which is its 31st year of operation.
Our UTA implements the idea of lifelong learning, integrating, educating, inspiring the older generation of Częstochowa residents, satisfying the needs of self-education, self-development, expanding knowledge and skills, belonging to a group, filling free time, establishing and maintaining social ties, as well as creating the opportunity to fulfill youthful dreams, which have so far been incompatible with professional life and family duties.
We are glad that our UTA enjoys a good reputation among older residents of Częstochowa, as evidenced by such a large number of people willing to participate in it and present at the inauguration. The 2024/2025 academic year at the UTA begins with 804 students - including 145 new students.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by: Rector prof. Janusz Kapuśniak, Vice-Rector for Organisation and Development – prof. Barbara Kowalska, Vice-Rector for Education and Student Affairs – prof. Jakub Jakubowski, Vice-Rector for Research – prof. Bogusław Przywora and invited guests: Chairman of the Częstochowa City Council Łukasz Banaś, Deputy Mayor of Częstochowa Jarosław Marszałek, representatives of befriended cultural institutions from Częstochowa and the region. During the matriculation, the Rector handed out ID cards to the new students, and the inaugural lecture entitled "Neuroplasticity – how the brain changes and adapts" was given by dr Zbigniew Wieczorek – Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences – who had already been honoured with the title of Friend of the UTA.
