"ALTERNATIVE TO THE AVANT-GARDE" FINANCED BY MINISTRY

The project entitled "Alternative to the Avant-garde" by prof. Adam Regiewicz (Head of the Institute of Literary Studies of JDU) has received funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the Social Responsibility of Science II programme. Its subject is a scientific and musical spectacle transferring research on the poetics of the interwar period and the musicality of literature conducted at the Institute of Literary Studies of JDU into the educational and popular space. It is a popularising lecture intended for young people and interested people, interspersed with musical adaptations of avant-garde poetry, arranged in the style of alternative music. The project brings a dozen or so contemporary musical interpretations of poems from the years 1919-1939, ranging from the bright sounds of the vital poetics of Skamander to the dark colours of the poetics of the Second and Third Avant-garde and the expressive tone of socially engaged and patriotic poetry. The aim of the performance is to demonstrate the convergence of avant-garde poetics and contemporary solutions of alternative aesthetics, to familiarize a wide audience (including students) with the clear connections between avant-garde literature and the counterculture from which alternative music grows.
At the same time, an audio part (recordings) and an audiovisual part (mini-lectures) will be prepared, which can be used as educational material during Polish language lessons in secondary school. Both educational, musical and spectacular organisation will be handled by prof. Adam Regiewicz in cooperation with the Zespół Cieśni Nadgarstka.
