CHRISTMAS MEETING OF JDU SENATE
The Christmas wafer meeting with the participation of Senators of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa took place on December 18, 2024. This group also includes members of the current term of office of the University Council (2021-2024), which expires at the end of December. The chairman of the Council, dr Krzysztof Winiarski, addressed the gathered people, who thanked the former Rector prof. dr hab. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska (Rector of the University in the years 2016-2020 and 2020-2024), the Rector of JDU, prof. dr hab. Janusz Kapuśniak and other members of the academic community.
- I wish success to the new authorities of the University - congratulated dr Krzysztof Winiarski.
The Rector thanked the members of the Council for their cooperation so far, emphasizing the excellent relations that accompanied it. He presented the members with commemorative gifts – graphics made by students of the Faculty of Art of JDU. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he also drew attention to the portrait of the Rector, prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska – presented for the first time in the Senate Hall (let us remind you that earlier its presentation took place in the "Auditorium Maximum").
The Rector of JDU, prof. Janusz Kapuśniak, wished a peaceful Christmas, and addressed the gathered, emphasizing the uniqueness of the waiting time and the uniqueness of the Christmas period, which is associated with Polish culture and is deeply rooted in it. He emphasized that regardless of their worldview, people look forward to this period and its unusual atmosphere.
The gathered people were blessed by the Academic Chaplain Fr. Michał Krawczyk, who read a fragment from the Gospel of St. Luke devoted to the birth of Jesus. Addressing the gathered, he encouraged them not to be afraid of bold challenges!
The traditional sharing of the Christmas wafer was accompanied by wishes from the Senators. The musical setting of the meeting was taken care of by the Vocal Quartet of the Department of Music of Jan Dlugosz University KLA-SCH under the direction of professor Przemysław Jeziorowski. The programme included Christmas carols: "An Angel Spoke to the Shepherds", "And Yesterday from the Evening" and "Triumphs". At the end of the meeting, the participants received calendars for 2025. They are unusual because they are completely connected with Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa. In addition to photos presenting JDU in the following months, you can find events planned by the academic community, such as concerts, the university's holiday or the inauguration of the new year.
It should be noted that a working session of JDU Senate was held earlier – by the way, the last one in 2024. Members of the Senate debated for the first time in the hall opened at the beginning of December (let us remind you that since August it has been modernised, which resulted in a complete change in its appearance and the possibility of conducting debates).
