„(UN)INTERRUPTED” EXHIBITION WILL COMMEMORATE THE LATE DR DARIUSZ SŁOTA

We invite to the opening of the exhibition entitled (UN)INTERRUPTED, which is a commemoration of the deceased employee of the Faculty of Art of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, dr Dariusz Słota. The event will take place on January 23, 2025 (beginning at 6:00 pm) in the Rooms of the Post-Open-Air and Silesian Municipal Art Gallery in Częstochowa (NMP 64).

Dariusz Słota remained – continuously – in his works. They determine his artistic identity. He dealt with easel painting and drawing, and the multitude and variety of techniques, styles, themes and motifs that we see in the works collected at the exhibition – arouses admiration and respect.  The paintings and drawings he left behind testify to the fact that the artist took a conscious, searching creative path – from hyper/photorealistic works to abstraction; from classic landscapes and faithful portraits – to perfectly executed drawings. He created in painting and drawing cycles, choosing leading motifs. For his marine works from the "Painted by Sea" series, he received awards in painting competitions. Noticing detail in the surroundings, in architecture, in nature, he focused on it in the works from the "Microspace of Landscape" series. He drew the series "Mulit Multi" and "Cardboard Machines" with a precise line. His tiny collages, referring to folk art, in which the artist depicted, among other things, strange animals or animal-human figures, are very interesting and full of charm. The series "Graf's Favourite Toys" seems to be a painting joke, affecting the viewer with the contrast between the depictions of everyday objects, from the children's room, and the intense golden background characteristic of sacred art. The author of the exhibition could share all this richness of forms and content with other artists, and this is what happened, because Dariusz Słota, as a teacher at the Jacek Malczewski State High School of Fine Arts in Częstochowa (1988-1994), and above all for 40 years of his professional work as an academic teacher at Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa at the Faculty of Arts, educated many excellent artists,  who – continuously – continue his work.

The artist's work remains under the care of his son Paweł Słota, thanks to whom this exhibition was created.
