JDU OPEN DAY: ACADEMIC, SCIENTIFIC, COSMIC... – UNUTTERABLE!
Although the Open Day promoting, among other things, the inauguration for studies for the new 2025/2026 academic year is a thing of the past, the echoes of this event are not silent. This is happening not only in Czestochowa and the region, but also in the whole of southern Poland, and even abroad. All thanks to the wonderful participants – young people and teachers who came to take part in our classes (January 30, 2025).
This year's event was inaugurated with an inspiring spectacle associated with science, our University and the region, which was entitled: "Open Your Eyes – Open Your Mind – Open Your University". Based on numerous motifs referring to academic and scientific realities, the script aroused great interest among the audience (they filled the Aula Magna tightly to the last seat!). The dialogues of the hosts of the show, prof. Adam Regiewicz and prof. Sebastian Gałecki, made a great impression, as they did not lack clear signals and references giving answers to what science is and how powerful possibilities it offers. The allusions were combined with probably the most important message that humanity cannot exist without science. By doubling and tripling, the hosts invited employees and students to the stage, who showed various faces of the University: from internationalisation and the COLOURS project implemented by JDU, to academic sports, classical music and suggestive rock content. There were also deep philosophical phrases, as well as foreigners studying at the University, who highlighted the pros of our academic community and the positivies of being a student. The viewers had the opportunity to learn about the University’s study programmes and the support students receive not only in their efforts to obtain a diploma (confirmed by tutoring or care of the Disabilty Support team), but also in the development of their interests. No one has to worry about being left alone. Every student is important! At the end, there were even "cosmic catastrophes", which were simulated on the screen, inviting the viewers themselves to cooperate, which aroused admiration. We hope that you will also want to join our academic community. - the show was prepared by the staff and students of JDU.
- The Open Day is a comprehensive event addressed to all people interested in getting to know our University - explains the Rector of JDU, prof. Janusz Kapuśniak. - Hence the presentations, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, shows - a total of about 150 activities prepared by all faculties. This is the best proof of the enormous achievements of our University, its possibilities and the constant search for new areas of development. It introduces our guests to a modern University, which invites all candidates to study in over 60 fields of study: first-, second-cycle, engineering, master's or dual studies. It also shows our University as an open community, full of empathy and sensitivity. By developing and reaching young people not only from Poland, but more and more often from abroad. We offer better and better conditions for studying.
School groups (and all those from neighbouring provinces) took advantage of the invitation of the dormitories (and also regardless of the fact that in some provinces there are winter holidays). Crowds of young people visited numerous exhibition stands from the morning and enjoyed the attractive programme. Excitement, delight and inquisitiveness in the eyes became a confirmation that the goal has been achieved, and the University attracts young people! On that day, we were accompanied by students and teachers from secondary schools from: Bełchatów, Zduńska Wola, Dobryszyce, Wieluń, Kielce, Włoszczowa, Radomsko, Działoszyn, Pajęczno, Lubliniec, Kłobuck, Częstochowa, Kamienica Polska, Sosnowiec, Złoty Potok, Krzepice, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Tarnowskie Góry, and even distant Leżajsk or Koszalin. A lot of people came individually from other cities and smaller towns, and only the extreme commitment of the lecturers and organisers made it impossible for them to meticulously note all the towns from where future candidates came to us! Suffice it to say that the attendance exceeded all expectations and oscillated around 1500 guests, or maybe even exceeding these calculations.
Such a result and interest would not have been achieved if it had not been for the years of hard work that the JDU staff laboriously perform almost every day. By making new acquaintances, signing cooperation agreements (with various environments, not only schools, but also institutions and companies), we build trust, which pays off by visiting schools, participating in competition committees, participating in sports competitions, exhibitions, concerts or selflessly sharing the conclusions obtained from research and acquired skills. Not without significance are the past Open Days, always organised with professional commitment, dedication and effort combined with creativity. So who is the author of the success? – All of us (!): Staff, Students, PhD students, Alumni, Friends and Partners who are always with us! Having far limited possibilities to thank you (each and every one of you), on behalf of the Authorities of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, we do it collectively! Thank you for your dedication and friendly cooperation. We promise that we will prepare the next Open Day even more interesting, attractive, and... – suffice it to say that we will try!
The role of the media must not be kept silent. It is thanks to you, dear editors, that the event (but also the University) is so popular. We are sure that this year a record was set in the amount of materials published in newspapers, online media, social media, television, radio... We are convinced that the "Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa" brand has reached listeners, viewers and readers "from the Beskid slopes to the plains of Mazovia", and by breaking through the mountains with a positive message, it has also reached the inhabitants of northern Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Reports and photos published on the profiles of the participants of the event are also important. Thank you!
Let us remind you that the idea of the Open Day was born at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, when the University was called "Higher Pedagogical School in Częstochowa". Initially, it was a logistically modest event, also referred to as "Open Doors". The role of organisers was played by students of the University and employees of the student affairs department. At that time, the activity was limited to one stand, where you could get promotional materials and talk to students (usually Waszyngtona 4/8). Over the years, the event has evolved and won over its regulars, slowly aspiring to be not only a promotion, but also an honourable name of a "festival of science".
We would like to inform you that the next University Open Day will take place in November 2025. We count on your presence!
